Getting Here

We've tried to gather as much information for you as possible. However, please do not hesitate to contact us if you need help or have any questions.

SJC
The best place to fly into is Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC). It is only about 8 miles away from downtown Campbell, our suggested place to stay, and it is about a 15 minute drive (or, a $20-30 cab ride).

SFO
San Francisco International Airport is 38.6 miles away, which is about a 45 minute drive. There are plenty of shuttles out of SFO, so you could probably arrange a shuttle to your hotel, or catch the SFO to SJC shuttle then cab it to your hotel. Raju and I will check into shuttles and update this section soon.

OAK
Metropolitan Oakland International Airport is 39.4 miles away, which is also about a 45 minute drive. We will check into shuttle information and update this section soon.

Where to Stay

We are currently trying to negotiate group rates with the hotels listed below. Please let us know which hotel or area you might be interested in so we can block enough rooms.

Campbell, CA
Towneplace Suites by Marriott
Room rates from $99 for Friday and Saturday night stays if you call for reservations and request the group rate. Group rates are only applicable to studio rooms, if you would like a 1 or 2 bedroom suite, you can just make your reservation through the internet. If you are staying during the week, room rates start from $159 and you will be charged this amount through the weekend.

This hotel is a newer hotel, built in the last year or so, and it is within walking distance of the Pruneyard Shopping Center, Historic Downtown Campbell, and my apartment. It is located directly on the Los Gatos trail and is next to Campbell Park which has basketball courts and a kids play area. It is more of a business-oriented, extended-stay type of place. The entire hotel is non-smoking. They have studios and 1- and 2-bedroom suites, all which have kitchenettes (including a stove/oven). They also have a complimentary continental breakfast (though on Sundays the Blintz stand in the Farmer's Market is the way to go).

Telephone Number: 1-408-370-4510
Group Rate Info: There are 10 rooms blocked for the Hobson/Krishnamurthy wedding. Call the number above for reservations and mention that you would like the group rate for that event. Reservations must be made by July 26 to secure the group rate. After that, blocked rooms will be released.

Campbell Inn
Room rates start from $109 for Friday and Saturday night stays. During the week the room rates are $119 per night. Unlike many of the other hotels, they will charge the weekly rate on the weekdays and their weekend rate on the weekend.

This hotel is directly across the street from the Towneplace Suites, so it is also within walking distance of the Pruneyard, Downtown Campbell, my aprartment, the trail and the park. They too have 1- and 2-bedroom suites, though these rooms only have a refrigerator and coffeemaker. They also have regular rooms with double beds and serve a complimentary European style buffet breakfast. If you're in the mood to play, they have a heated lap pool and a whirlpool, a tennis court, and complimentary bikes, which could be fun on the trail.

Larkspur Landing
Room rates start at $99 for Friday and Saturday night stays. During the week rooms start at $159. This hotel, like Campbell Inn, will charge the weekly rate during the week, and the weekend rate on the weekend.

This place, like Towneplace Suites, is more business-oriented/extended-stay. They have studios and suites, with fully equipped in-room kitchens. They have complimentary breakfast and laundry, and if you are planning on working while you're here they have complimentary internet and a business center with all of the necessities.

This place isn't too far from downtown Campbell or Santana Row, but you would have to drive anywhere you want to go, as it is on the corner of the expressway and not really within walking distance of anything like the other hotels we have listed. But, being on the corner of the expressway means it's a straight shot to one of our favorite Indian restaurants, the Royal Taj.

San Jose, CA
Hotel Valencia
Rooms starting at $189 per night for Friday and Saturday night with our Room Block. During the week the rates are much higher, starting at $309 per night, and if you stay during the week it will effect your weekend rate (making it higher).

Hotel Valencia is located in Santana Row, a premier shopping and dining district in San Jose. If you are only staying for the weekend, the rates are decent, there's plenty to do in the immediate area, and the Westfield Shopping Center (Valley Fair Mall) is across the street.

Telephone Number: 1-408-551-0010 or 866-842-0100
Group Rate Info: There are 10 rooms blocked for the Hobson and Krishnamurthy wedding. Call one of the numbers above for reservations and mention that you would like the group rate for that event. Reservations must be made by July 27 to secure the group rate. After that, blocked rooms will be released.

Getting Around

From SJC
Taxis from SJC to Campbell generally run $20 to $30. You also might want to check with your hotel to see if they offer a free shuttle to the hotel.

From SFO
You can either take the door to door shuttles (cheaper, but probably takes more time) or arrange for a limousine/car service to pick you up and deliver you to the South Bay. I believe we used South Bay shuttle -- the guy was fairly quick (only took an hour and a half to get to San Jose with him dropping everyone else off, but this was at 2 am).

From OAK
Check out the Oakland Airport's transportation guide > Shuttles, Limos, and Taxis for a list of services. On the Door to Door Shuttle Service listed half way down the page, you want to look for "Area Served: Santa Clara".

Getting Around While You're Here

If you are staying at Towneplace Suites or Campbell Inn, you will be within walking distance of A Bellagio for the rehearsal dinner. No matter where you are staying, you will need a rental car or a ride to the wedding site in Los Gatos. Please see below for more information about getting to the wedding to determine if you will need to rent a car.

Getting to the Wedding

You will need a rental car or you will need to arrange for a ride with someone between your hotel and the wedding site.

A few things to keep in mind driving in California (or, at least, I found these weird):

  • U-turns are legal, and a necessity (unless, of course, there is a no u-turn sign)
  • Motorcycles are allowed to drive between the lanes (so be careful switching)
  • During rush hours there are metering lights getting on to the highway (red lights at the end of the exit ramp)
